Thanks for your info- was wondering if these certificates were given to all the soldiers, even if they never made it to France. Facebook might have a WWI group where they might know the answer to your question about those who survived. We don’t have any others who served in WWI so I am unsure about what they might have been given. I did Google “certificate for WWI soldier” and got quite a number of various certificates, including some given to those who were disabled in the war.

Thank you for sharing. This certificate seemed to have been given to anyone who died during WWI, regardless if they went to France and fought or not. My great-grand uncle had one that had been given to his brother. The brother had died in the training stage, never making it out of the country. Does anyone know – Did the soldiers who lived get a certificate of any type? Thank you.
