What a wonderful story you have to go along with your button! (I wish that mine had been passed down but sadly it was purchased.) So many states in the west were much more progressive with woman’s suffrage than the eastern part of the country. That is really great to see your great-grandmother’s name on the list! I hope that you have written down these tales for the next generation- such a treasure.

Thanks for reading!

She was Mary Louisa Davies Buswell, and lived until 1924, so she _did_ see the opportunity to vote, once or twice.
We are from South Dakota, where “Votes for Women” was finally passed in 1918, after _six_ previously failing attempts.
On Nov. 2, 1918, the Saturday before that election, the “Votes for Women” advocates bought a full, two-page spread ad in the local newspaper listing in column after column of small type, the names of supporters. Grandma MLDB was on that list.
